Theatre Central LJ
Hey everyone! Today's Club Fair went AMAZINGLY well and we got 89... count 'em... EIGHTY-NINE members signed up just today!|
I just want to remind everyone that signing up is NOT a binding contract. You are under no obligation whatsoever to do every show, or even any show, if you're too busy or whatever. We won't hunt you down if you can;t come to a meeting, either. There's way too many people to call attendance!
CREW: Tyler Pigeon, our Techie Extrordinaire, will be calling a meeting sometime soon to talk to anyone who's expressed an interest in doing crew work. This includes lighting, sound, set, props, and basically anything else that requires you to wear black all the time. Listen for his announcement which should be coming up soon.
WRITERS/DIRECTORS: Writers, scripts will be due on THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 28TH. Brandon will be calling a meeting on this day, and we will give you reminders a few times in the days leading up to it. That's about a week and two days from now, so if you're not finished your script, get busy! Please keep in mind that plays must run a half an hour or less (most plays in the past have averaged about 15-20 minutes). With most scripts, depending on the volume of dialogue and blocking (actions), one page equals about a minute or so.
You CAN use a short play (or a trimmed-down longer play) that's already been written, AS LONG AS YOU GIVE CREDIT and AS LONG AS IT'S OUT OF CIRCULATION. If it's still in circulation, you would have to buy the rights to it, and that can be very expensive. If you're not sure if you can use it, just bring it to the meeting and we will check for you. And as for giving credit... we'll be able to tell if you didn't write it. Really. We're theatre geeks. We know these things.
I think that's about it... listen for the announcements! Thanks to everyone who participated in the Club Fair!
